Hit to the Hole (from www.OperationDoubles.com)

The simplest shot selection in doubles is to hit to the hole in the diagonal space of the opposing players.  When you get a chance to volley against a team in the Up-and-Back formation, you should almost always hit to the Hole. Yes, I know that’s not “mixing it up.”  But it doesn’t matter if the opposition knows that’s what you ‘re going to do, because they can’t stop this shot.  Even if they do make a return, it’s usually just a setup for another chance to put the ball away.  So, every time you get a whack at the ball from the net, pound it through the hold.  Time after time.  This gives your opponents a psychological pounding as well, because they feel the pounding every time they see that same shot coming that they can do nothing about.  If you’re not hitting 80 or 90 percent of your volleys to the Hole now start doing so tomorrow, you will soon need better opponents to give you a good match

Definition:  The Hole is the diagonal space between the players when they are in the one up and one back position.
