Coach's Corner

Keys to Winning Doubles Net Play

  • Be active at the net.

  • Harass the service return.

  • Don’t look back.

  • Stay out of your partner’s way and in your opponents’ way.

  • While the ball is in your court, watch the opposing up-player and step back toward your alley.  If your partner’s shot is getting past the opposing up-play, advance.  If no, back off to defend the Hole. (The hole is the diagonal space between the players when they are in the one up and one back position).

  • While the ball is in the opposition’s court, step forward to the center line, drifting the same direction as the opposing back-player chases the ball.

  • Hit to the Hole.
